ASA Steel Structures Limited
ASA steel Structures specialise in the design, fabrication and erection of all types of structural steelwork for both new build and refurbishment.
Simon Walker the MD at ASA realised that the company needed to achieve compliance with BS EN ISO 1090-1:2009+A1:2011 to enable them to CE mark their products and researched companies that could help them to achieve this objective.
Momentum Partnership were recommended to Simon by a friend, also a steelwork fabricator, to assist ASA in the implementation of the standard.
David Godfrey acted as project consultant and guided Simon and his team through the process of implementation of the standard.
As the basis of ASA’s factory production control system we implemented ISO9001, for which Simon requested separate certification. To control welding operations we implemented ISO3834 and engaged the services of an external welding co-ordinator to develop ASA’s welding procedures.
Certification was achieved in June on schedule for the CE marking of Structural Steelwork to become a legal requirement in the EU
Simon’s perceptions of the knock-on benefits
“The results speak for themselves, to get ISO 9001 and the CE marking is a great boost to the company”
“We were highly delighted with the service that we experienced from Momentum Partnership. David supported us with the lion’s share of the work and we had to tap into that support and take instruction. It was a nerve racking audit for us, but that is where David’s expertise shone and we couldn’t be more ecstatic to receive confirmation of a clean pass with no issues to follow up”
“We understand that it is an on-going process, it doesn’t just stop once the certificate is awarded. But with David’s continued support it is starting to become habit and is having a noticeable impact on the day to day running of the business.”
The process of CE marking has also helped us to reduce costs, by producing the non-conformance report we highlighted areas of the business where we could recoup costs”
